Air Quality Alert issued July 22 at 12:55PM PDT by NWS Spokane WA An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the following agencies: Washington Department of Ecology Colville Confederated Tribes Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Chelan, Douglas, Garfield, and Asotin Counties and continues for Spokane, Whitman, Adams, Ferry, Lincoln, Okanogan, Grant, Adams, Whitman, Pend Oreille, and Stevens Counties, through Friday, July 24th at 11 AM, due to current and expected wildfire smoke from regional fires. Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels are expected to range in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups and Unhealthy categories. In Eastern Okanogan County near active wildfires, air quality may reach Very Unhealthy to Hazardous levels. When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.

Red Flag Warning issued July 23 at 7:04PM PDT until July 24 at 2:00AM PDT by NWS Spokane WA ...RED FLAG WARNING FOR THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY, FIRE WEATHER WATCHES FOR WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY... First, a ridge breakdown will continue to bring a threat for thunderstorms across portions of Central and North-Central Washington into late Thursday night. Then, drier and windier weather arrives Friday and Saturday with critical fire weather conditions likely. * Affected Area: East Washington Central Cascades (Zone 696), East Portion of North Cascades National Park/Lake Chelan National Recreation Area (Zone 697) and East Washington North Cascades (Zone 698). * Winds: Northwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph Thursday. * Lightning: 15 to 30 percent chance of thunderstorms through 2AM Friday. * Impacts: New fire starts from lightning Thursday. New and existing fires could be impacted by gusty outflow winds. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
