Special Weather Statement issued July 4 at 7:00PM EDT by NWS State College PA At 700 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Bellefonte to near Lewistown to 13 miles east of Huntingdon. Movement was northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... State College, Lewistown, Boalsburg, Pleasant Gap, Mount Union, Lemont, Burnham, Belleville, Houserville, Milroy, Highland Park, Centre Hall, Yeagertown, Strodes Mills, Reedsville, Juniata Terrace, Allensville, Spring Mills, Reeds Gap State Park, and Blacklog. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for central Pennsylvania.
