Flood Watch issued May 8 at 3:16PM EDT until May 9 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...For eastern Kentucky. * WHEN...Through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings would be the first to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected through tonight. This may lead to instances of flooding across the area as well as significant rises on area rivers. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Special Weather Statement issued May 8 at 6:04PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 603 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Bloss, or 12 miles south of Mount Vernon, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Lamero, Camp Wildcat, Bloss, Luner, Wood Creek Lake, Billows, Mershons, Hazel Patch, Pongo, Templer, Victory, and Hare. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Interstate 75 in east central Kentucky between mile markers 46 and 52. Kentucky Highway 80 in Pulaski County between mile markers 35 and 37. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
