Flood Advisory issued May 9 at 1:59AM CDT until May 9 at 4:30AM CDT by NWS Louisville KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Kentucky, including the following counties, in central Kentucky, Green and Hart. In south central Kentucky, Adair, Barren, Edmonson, Metcalfe and Warren. * WHEN...Until 430 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 159 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Bowling Green, Glasgow, Brownsville, Plum Springs, Three Springs, Mount Victor, Horse Cave, Cave City, Smiths Grove and Park City. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely and have them relay your report to the National Weather Service in Louisville.
