In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe. * WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Flood Advisory issued May 8 at 9:45PM EDT until May 9 at 4:45AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Rockcastle and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Leslie, Letcher and Perry. * WHEN...Until 445 AM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 943 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms has fallen. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen today. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected over the area from additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms into the overnight hours. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... London, Williamsburg, Hazard, Barbourville, Harlan, Pineville, Manchester, Hyden, Middlesboro, Whitley City, Letcher, Cumberland, Loyall, Evarts, Lynch, Benham, Vicco, Wallins Creek, Blackey and Salt Gum. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
