Flood Warning issued April 28 at 9:10PM CDT until April 29 at 9:30AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Allen, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 930 AM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 909 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area. Between 3 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. Many roads are still impassable and include two U.S. Highways. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Parsons, Chanute, Iola, Eureka, Neodesha, Fredonia, Humboldt, Yates Center, Erie, Madison, St. Paul, La Harpe, Gas, Moran, Thayer, Altoona, Longton, Toronto, Hamilton and Severy. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Verdigris River at Independence affecting Montgomery and Wilson Counties. Verdigris River at Altoona affecting Wilson County. Verdigris River at Coffeyville affecting Montgomery County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring. * WHERE...Verdigris River at Altoona. * WHEN...Until late this morning. * IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Flood waters begin to threaten outlining facilities of the city's water plant. Water Plant's clearwell may become flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:45 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 20.1 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this morning and to 3.4 feet early Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
