Heat Advisory issued June 9 at 1:20PM CDT until June 9 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Heat index values around 104 to 108. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Kansas. * WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Flood Warning issued June 9 at 12:01PM CDT until June 9 at 6:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing. * WHERE...Portions of central and north central Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Dickinson. In north central Kansas, Ottawa. * WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1201 PM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring. Between 2 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Abilene, Herington, Minneapolis, Chapman, Solomon, Enterprise, Bennington, Hope, Delphos, Tescott, Woodbine, Culver, Wells, Manchester, Carlton, Niles, Talmage, Moonlight and Ada. - This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 267 and 289. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
