Extreme Heat Watch issued June 27 at 1:27AM CDT until June 30 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 108 possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Kansas. * WHEN...From Sunday afternoon through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight lows in the middle to upper 70s will not provide much relief from the heat. Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist through much of next week. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
