Flood Watch issued April 27 at 12:22PM CDT until April 28 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Central and South Central Kansas, including the following counties, in Central Kansas, Marion. In South Central Kansas, Harper, Harvey, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will impact the region this afternoon through tonight. Pockets of very heavy rainfall and localized flooding are likely, along with the potential for rises and rivers and streams. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Special Weather Statement issued April 27 at 4:58PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS At 458 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near South Haven, or 13 miles south of Wellington, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Wellington, Mulvane, Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Caldwell, Oxford, Udall, Argonia, South Haven, Geuda Springs, Rock, Mayfield, Milan, Hunnewell, Perth, Riverdale, and Wellington Airport. This includes Interstate 35 between Mile Markers 1 and 32. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 PM CDT for south central Kansas.
