While widespread additional heavy rainfall is unlikely, any additional rain will only aggravate ongoing flooding concerns over southeast Kansas. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Flood Warning issued April 28 at 12:43PM CDT until April 28 at 9:30PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS This warning replaces the previous areal flood warnings across Southeast Kansas. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Allen, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 930 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1237 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area. Between 3 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Parsons, Chanute, Iola, Eureka, Neodesha, Fredonia, Humboldt, Yates Center, Erie, Madison, St. Paul, La Harpe, Gas, Moran, Thayer, Altoona, Longton, Toronto, Hamilton and Severy. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Fall River at Fredonia affecting Wilson County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Fall River at Fredonia. * WHEN...Until early tomorrow afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 27.0 feet, Flood waters begin to encroach on residential homes and floods half of yards along the south bank of river located 1 mile south of Fredonia off of Highway 96. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 27.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 17.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight and continue falling to 4.0 feet early Friday afternoon. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
