Flood Watch issued June 5 at 8:17PM CDT until June 6 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Iowa, including the following counties, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page and Pottawattamie and Nebraska, including the following counties, Butler, Cass, Douglas, Gage, Johnson, Lancaster, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, Saunders and Seward. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A band of heavy rain is expected to develop late this evening and linger into early Saturday morning. Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 5 at 10:30PM CDT until June 5 at 11:15PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE At 1029 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 3 miles east of Council Bluffs Airport to 4 miles southeast of Treynor to 4 miles north of Hastings to near Malvern, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Weather Instrument Measurement. At 1024 PM CDT, a 64 MPH wind gust was observed 3 miles south of Glenwood. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. These severe storms will be near... Malvern, Treynor, Macedonia, Henderson, and Hastings around 1035 PM CDT. Carson around 1040 PM CDT. Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Oakland and Hancock. People attending Pottawattamie County Public Health In Focus should seek safe shelter immediately! This includes the following highways... Interstate 29 between mile markers 45 and 50, and between mile markers 54 and 56. Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 3 and 17, and between mile markers 34 and 37. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
