Extreme Heat Warning issued July 2 at 1:48PM CDT until July 3 at 12:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees. * WHERE...Central Cook, Northern Cook, and Southern Cook Counties. * WHEN...Until midnight CDT tonight. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The magnitude of anticipated heat, combined with oppressive warmth at night will lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions. Residents of the city of Chicago can call 3 1 1 to request well being checks for elderly friends or family members, or for information on finding the nearest cooling center. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Chicago, Cicero, Evanston, Skokie, Des Plaines, Berwyn, Wheaton, Oak Park, Downers Grove, Glenview, Elmhurst, Lombard, Ohare Airport, Park Ridge, Addison, Glendale Heights, Elk Grove Village, Niles, West Town, Austin, Lake View, Irving Park, West Ridge, Lincoln Park, and Chicago Loop. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Flood Advisory issued July 2 at 10:51PM CDT until July 3 at 2:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will. * WHEN...Until 200 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1051 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Cicero, Bolingbrook, Berwyn, Oak Park, Downers Grove, Romeoville, Plainfield, Woodridge, Oswego, Midway Airport, Austin, South Lawndale, West Town, Bridgeport, Lincoln Park, Lake View and Chicago Loop. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring.
