Extreme Heat Warning issued July 1 at 1:24PM CDT until July 3 at 12:00AM CDT by NWS Lincoln IL * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 105. * WHERE...Marshall, Mason, McLean, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell, Woodford, Fulton, and Knox Counties. * WHEN...Until midnight CDT Thursday Night. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat indices currently are forecast to reach around or just above 100 degrees on Friday afternoon. Its possible the extreme heat warning may need to be extended into Friday afternoon if thunderstorm chances stay further north. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
