Flood Warning issued July 3 at 7:59AM CDT until July 3 at 2:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by overnight rainfall is occurring. * WHERE...Portions of southern DuPage and far western Cook counties in northeastern Illinois. * WHEN...Until 200 PM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Based on river gauge reports, flooding is occurring along the DuPage River near the Morton Arboretum. Water may start to encroach Illinois Route 53 and other roadways near the river in the area. In addition, River levels are near flood stage along Salt Creek in Western Springs. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 756 AM CDT, gauge reports indicated elevated river levels due to overnight rainfall. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain fell overnight. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Aurora, Naperville, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Lombard, Woodridge, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Westchester, Burr Ridge, Oak Brook, Westmont, Lisle, La Grange Park, Warrenville, Western Springs, Willowbrook, Clarendon Hills, Hillside and Oakbrook Terrace. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 3 at 1:18PM CDT until July 3 at 1:45PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL At 117 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Addison to Downers Grove, moving east at 50 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. These severe storms will be near... Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Oak Brook, and Willowbrook around 125 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include South Barrington, Medinah, Oakbrook Terrace, Big Rock, and York Center. Prepare immediately for damaging winds and deadly cloud to ground lightning. Seek shelter inside a well-built structure. Stay away from windows. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
