Flood Advisory issued May 13 at 2:08PM HST until May 13 at 5:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County. * WHEN...Until 500 PM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 156 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over portions of windward Big Island, especially over the Hilo and Hamakua Districts, where rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Honokaa, Papaikou, Honomu, Pepeekeo, Piihonua, Hakalau, Glenwood, Ninole, Laupahoehoe, Wainaku and Ookala. Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
