Southeastern McCormick County in central South Carolina... * Until 900 PM EDT. * At 600 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... North Augusta, Grovetown, Evans, Martinez, Belvedere, Fort Gordon, Augusta, Clearwater, Edgefield, Clarks Hill Recreation Area, Riverwood, J. Strom Thurmond Dam, Village Plaza Shopping Center, Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta Mall, Hamilton Branch State Park, Daniel Field, Summerville, Midtown and Glendale. This includes the following highways... Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 23. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 13. Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 182 and 201. Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 8...and between mile markers 14 and 15. Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles.
