Special Weather Statement issued June 14 at 2:24PM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL At 223 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Midway to near Crawfordville to 12 miles southwest of St. Marks. Movement was east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Tallahassee, Woodville, Tallahassee State College, Florida State University, St. Marks, Midway, Crawfordville, Florida A and M, Doak Campbell Stadium, Wakulla, Sopchoppy, Lake Bradford, Cody, Shadeville, Leon Sinks, Gaither Community Center, Wakulla Springs, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Walker Ford Community Center, and South City. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
