Flood Watch issued May 18 at 1:09AM CDT until May 18 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Alabama, including the following areas, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston, Panhandle Florida, including the following areas, Holmes, Jackson and North Walton, and southwest Georgia, including the following areas, Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Dougherty, Early, Lee, Miller, Mitchell, Quitman, Randolph, Seminole and Terrell. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms will develop across the area this afternoon. Widespread rain totals will generally be around 1 to 2 inches but localized areas in the flood watch region could see 2 to 4 inches of new rainfall. Some of these rainfall amounts could occur across areas that already received heavier rains on Friday, this increasing the concerns for localized flooding and/or flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Flood Advisory issued May 18 at 10:47AM CDT until May 18 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Alabama, including the following counties, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston and southwest Georgia, including the following counties, Early and Seminole. * WHEN...Until noon CDT /100 PM EDT/. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1046 AM CDT /1146 AM EDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Daleville, Cottonwood, Dothan, Headland, Ozark, Fort Novosel, Enterprise, Taylor, Midland City, Kinsey, Ashford, Level Plains, Cowarts, Newton, Webb, Columbia, Pinckard, Malvern and Rehobeth. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain.
