Severe Winds The Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of KIYAPO will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Today: Most of Luzon, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Northern Samar, Zamboanga del Norte, and Davao Oriental. Tomorrow (26 July): Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Quezon, and MIMAROPA. Monday (27 July): La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Lubang Islands, and Kalayaan Islands HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 3.5 m: The seaboard of Batanes. Up to 3.0 m: The seaboard of Babuyan Islands; the northern seaboard of Ilocos Norte; the northeastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan. Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced of operating ill-equipped vessels. Up to moderate to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 2.5 m: The northern seaboards of Isabela and Ilocos Sur; the western seaboard of Kalayaan Islands; the remaining seaboards of mainland Cagayan and Ilocos Norte. Up to 2.0 m: The seaboard of Zambales; the northern seaboard of La Union; the western seaboards of Pangasinan, Bataan, Calamian Islands, and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Islands; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of Isabela, Ilocos Sur, and Kalayaan Islands. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK KIYAPO is forecast to move generally northwestward until tomorrow (26 July) towards southern mainland China before turning north northwestward. Due to favorable environment conditions, KIYAPO will continue to strengthen in the next 12 hours, prior to its landfall. Afterwards, KIYAPO is expected to weaken rapidly as it moves further inland over mainland China.
