Thunderstorm Warning issued at 10:40 p.m. on 5 Jul 2026 will remain in force until 8:30 a.m. today. A few severe squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong. Violent gusts of around 90 kilometres per hour were recorded at Waglan Island at around 7:25 a.m. Violent gusts reaching 90 kilometres per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong. Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur: 1. Seek safe shelter immediately if you are outdoors. 2. Leave the water. Do not swim outdoors or engage in other outdoor water sports. 3. Do not stand on high ground. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts. 4. Take precautions against violent gusts. Beware of flying debris and falling objects. 5. Drivers using highways and flyovers should reduce speed to be alert to violent gusts.
