Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur: 1. Seek safe shelter if you are outdoors. 2. Leave the water. Do not swim outdoors or engage in other outdoor water sports. 3. Do not stand on high ground. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.

Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 was updated at 1:45 p.m. on 26 July Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force. This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected. At 2 p.m., Severe Tropical Storm Noul was estimated to be about 140 kilometres north of Hong Kong (near 23.6 degrees north 114.2 degrees east) and is forecast to move north-northwest at about 15 kilometres per hour into inland Guangdong and continue to weaken. With Noul continuing to move into inland Guangdong and away from Hong Kong, local winds are moderating gradually. The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1 at 3:20 p.m. When Noul no longer poses a threat to Hong Kong, the Observatory will cancel all Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals, or replace the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal by the Strong Monsoon Signal. Under the influence of Noul, local winds will still be occasionally strong offshore today, reaching gale force on high ground at first. Its outer rainbands will bring squally showers and thunderstorms to Hong Kong for the rest of today and early tomorrow. Showers will be heavy at times. Seas are still rough with swells. Members of the public should stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Waglan Island was 52 kilometres per hour with maximum gust exceeding 67 kilometres per hour. 1. Strong winds are still blowing. You should not relax taking precautions. Beware of falling objects in winds. Do not touch electric cables that have been blown loose. 2. Tropical cyclone brought different degrees of damages to Hong Kong. There may be hidden danger. Members of the public should remain on the alert for assurance of personal safety. 3. Flights at Hong Kong International Airport may be affected by the weather. Please contact your airline for the latest flight information before departing for the airport. 4.
