Increasing Gale or Storm Signal, No. 9 was updated at 2:45 a.m. on 26 July Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. The Increasing Gale or Storm Signal, No. 9, is in force. This means that winds are expected to increase significantly as Noul moves closer to Hong Kong. At 3 a.m., Severe Typhoon Noul was centred about 90 kilometres east-northeast of Hong Kong Observatory (near 22.5 degrees north 115.0 degrees east) and is forecast to move northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour towards the coast of eastern Guangdong. Local winds are strengthening. Gales are affecting many places with occasional storm force winds over high ground. Heavy squally showers associated with Noul are affecting Hong Kong. The western part of Noul's eyewall is affecting the vicinity of Mirs Peninsula, and bringing hurricane force winds to the region. According to the present forecast track, Noul will make landfall over the vicinity of Huizhou in the next couple of hours, skirting within 100 kilometres northeast of Hong Kong. Depending on the change in local wind conditions, the Observatory will assess the need of issuing the Hurricane Signal, No. 10. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal, No. 9 or above is expected to remain in force at least until 7 a.m. today. Members of the public please pay attention to the latest weather information issued by the Observatory. In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Tate's Cairn, Waglan Island and Cheung Chau were 95, 84 and 77 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts exceeding 128, 116 and 115 kilometres per hour respectively. 1.
