Thunderstorm Warning issued at 10:18 a.m. on 4 Jul 2026 will remain in force until 4:00 p.m. today. A few severe squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong. Violent gusts of around 100 and 90 kilometres per hour were recorded at Green Island and Star Ferry at around 2:30 p.m. respectively. Violent gusts reaching 90 kilometres per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong. Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur: 1. Seek safe shelter immediately if you are outdoors. 2. Leave the water. Do not swim outdoors or engage in other outdoor water sports. 3. Do not stand on high ground. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts. 4. Take precautions against violent gusts. Beware of flying debris and falling objects. 5. Drivers using highways and flyovers should reduce speed to be alert to violent gusts.

Strong Monsoon Signal was updated at 2:45 p.m. on 4 July The Strong Monsoon Signal is now in force. Strong winds with mean speed exceeding 40 kilometres per hour are expected from the southeast. Gusts will occasionally reach 90 kilometres per hour. 1. If you are not well sheltered from the southeast, you are advised to take precautions against strong gusty winds. Flower pots and other objects likely to be blown away should be taken indoors. 2. Those planning for water sports activities and operations at sea should take special care against high winds and rough sea conditions. Conditions are particularly rough over the offshore waters.

This means that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 30 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue. There will be flooding in some low-lying and poorly drained areas. People who are likely to be affected should take necessary precautions to reduce their exposure to risk posed by the heavy rain and flooding. Heavy rain may bring about flash floods. People should stay away from watercourses. People who are likely to be affected by flooding should take necessary precautions to avoid losses.
